ABOUT ME:
SINCE the age of twelve I'VE had an interest & KNACK in STYLE, & FASHION. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE THE PERSON THAT HAD ON UNIQUE PIECES DIFFERENT FROM ANY OF MY PEERS. I WANTED THINGS THAT weren't TRENDY BECAUSE I WANTED MY PERSONAL STYLE TO BE "THE TREND".
I STARTED OFF BY REWORKING OLD CLOTHES THAT I HAD & DIDN'T LIKE, OR DIDN'T WEAR ANYMORE, & I WOULD DISTRESS, BLEACH, COMBINE PIECES UNTIL I GOT SOMETHING THAT I DID LIKE & THAT WOULD BE UNLIKE ANYTHING THAT ANYBODY ELSE HAD.
I TOOK THIS IDEOLOGY & began designing and started my first brand in 2012, a t-shirt brand named Kings Clothing.
In 2018 AS I GREW & MATURED AS A PERSON I realizED MORE & MORE that fashion & design IS SOMETHING THAT I AM TRULY PASSIONATE ABOUT & I STARTED TO VIEW IT AS an avenue I truly wanted to pursue. WITH MY PERSONAL GROWTH I BELIEVED THAT MY BRAND SHOULD ALSO GROW TO & IN 2018 I created Étrange Studios® shortly after graduating high-school.
I have since achieved a few accomplishments that I am proud of; such as being the first African American designer from Detroit, MI to be selected to showcase pieces in Paris Fashion Week, at the age of 21 (Feb. 2022). I was presented with the opportunity to open my first flagship store inside of 12 Oaks Mall on June 4th and was also invited to showcase pieces in New York fashion week. My brand has also caught the attention of some notable names who proudly STYLE & wear Étrange.
Most if not all of my fashion experience has come strictly through me. I have completely curated the universe of Étrange all on my own with no major investors, no big names behind me, & no fashion resources FROM MY HOME TOWN. I have done everything from conceptualizing designs, textile design, product development, creative direction, pattern making, cut & sew, website design, marketing, merchandising, interior store design & even administrative feats such as e-commerce & high-end in-store retailing. Running my own brand & business has been an all encapsulating experience & I'VE LOVED EVERY STEP OF MY JOURNEY.
